Kathy McLeod
The foundation of McLeod Enterprises was in 1976 with the formation of the first HoneyTree Early Learning Center in Sterling, Virginia.  In 1978 it was moved to Roanoke, Virginia where it began in a small rented building serving 40 children.  Today, the company is the largest child care provider in southwest Virginia with 10 locations serving over 1300 children and families.
John G. McLeod
In 1986, John G. McLeod, C.P.A. formed McLeod & Company (Certified Public Accountants) after serving 3 years on a nuclear submarine in the U.S. Navy and on the audit staff of ERNST & YOUNG and KPMG.  McLeod & Company started as the smallest firm serving Roanoke.  The firm focus was providing value added services to larger companies with specialization in manufacturing.  In 1998, McLeod & Company became the largest C.P.A. firm headquarted in southwest Virginia.  The firm served over 250 corporate clients.  In 2010, McLeod & Company merged with Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, LLP.  CB&H was headquartered in Richmond, Virginia with 18 offices throughout the southeast.  CB&H is the 22nd largest CPA firm in the United States.  John retired from CB&H in 2011.
These operating entities provided the basis for growth into all the other operating companies and areas.  Currently McLeod Enterprises operates over 15 entities with over 250 employees.
